Die 4.8 se petrol rekening het hom seker bietjie seer gemaak.
I have given this some thought.
The Patrol is heavy, mainly due to its heavy chassis - making its central point of gravity still relatively low compared to other 4x4s.
We have all read the tragedy with the 90 Landy on the community forum.

This is not a brand debate, but the fact that you have an old design thoroughbred 4x4 like the landy, built with modern lighter materials, increases its central point of gravity and hence makes it top-heavy.
The same applies to the 76 cruiser. Old design with moderrn lighter material.
Below is the link to what happened to a mate of mine in his 76 cruiser last year.

He does not drive like a maniac. This was normal driving on a dirt road.
These vehicles are tough and reliable. But I would not drive on a dirt or sand road with any of these.
Sure, how you drive has a lot to do with it, but it is still a lot more dangerous with a lighter vehicle.
Why am I writing all this?
Because I think moving to a more modern overlander is just a bad idea, Grant?!
