Wes if you dont mind sharing what the work you've just done cost you?!
Christo do you change your filter set up when you go on trips, particularly if you'll be driving in convoy? I'm still trawling for a 3.0l box or even the old top mounted 4.2d filter housing to do a conversion and finally fit the snorkel (JG Shield's old one!)

1) Engine and gearbox Mounts (Stock Nissan parts because 3rd party mounts just don't seem to last) --- ~R3500
2) 45mm deep (oversized) Copper radiator with brass tanks (easy to work on in as all you need is a braising rod and a blowtorch)---- R3900
3) Clutch Disk (Also Nissan part...after Ross's experience with the LUK kit I figured I'd try the Nissan part....it has four double springs which really helps dampen that noisey box) ---- R1600
4) Cabstar Valeo Pressure plate and release bearing (which had to have the centre part reemed out to fit the stock clutch disk) ---- ~R1800 for the set (it includes a clutch disk but the spline count is wrong as it's for a Cabstar...I only found this out afterwards...so I'm sure you can get it cheaper)
5) Rear Main Seal (also Nissan part...I feel the same way about seals as I do about mounts) ---- ~R1040
6) New Front Brake pads ---- R540 (from CBF in Diep River I think...my Mechanic organised them)
7) 10L Delo and Gud Oil Filters ---- ~R600
8) Diesel Filter ---- R70 (I think)
I had a few smaller things done at the same time and a general service....the total labour was R7300....so in total I think it's comes to about R20k or so...it's been worth every cent...I used to get quite a vicious rattle through the chassis when I pulled away from low revs or accelerated from ~800rpm in 3rd. That's gone completely.....and it's a nice firm feeling ride again. Money well spent...considering what I paid for the vehicle I'm more than happy to spend a little extra cash on keeping the Wee Beasty in good shape. It drives better than when I bought it...lol. I don't expect to have to do this kind of work in a hurry...prior to this I've had very minor costs...just normal service items, new injectors (R1800) and a set of rear brake pads.....

Re: 1998 4.2d
Thanks Wes... jeez i love the patrol, and the 4.2D even more
imho very reasonable price to keep your patrol in great condition - theoretically you wont have to spend that R20K again for at least another 100kkm!
My troll now had 139kkm on the clock, having got her with 117kkm on the clock in may last year, and i can tell you that over 80% of that has been on trips

Man....yours isn't even run in yet! LOL....It's still a baby! You have PLENTY of happy km's a head of you....
I'm hoping for a LOT more than just another 100k km's from what I've done....this work should last at least 200k km's....minimum!
