Re: Front Diff Oil Leak
Now that's one option I haven't considered .... could it be that simple ....? If I was at home I'd check the level.
Frans is going to assist me further. Thanx and we'll keep you informed.

John

Re: Front Diff Oil Leak
After the leak stopped on mine, on the left wheel (long shaft), I thought my problems were over and it was nothing more than the diff being transported upside-down on the bakkie from Cape Town. The past week or two, I have noticed a fair amount of moisture on the driver side now. You can see it is "washing" some of the grease out of the burfield onto the ball.
Something I did see the other day on the web, was a boot to close up the entire ball. It was for a landcruiser, and searches do not get me anything for the Patrol. It could be nice to seal off that area from mud and sand, but then again, you will never see when this seal problem starts up, and can be diluting your grease with diff oil.

Re: Front Diff Oil Leak
Dave,ja, i've seen those boots before on JohanTyres Land Cruiser. Whilst they are cheap to buy and look very sexy, i believe they can hide any issue that may arise, like an early warning sign of oil leak,... also, i dont belive they will seal 100% so any water crossing / mud slinging and that stuff is going to be trapped in there grinding itself into a paste, and very very quickly destroy that knuckle seal / otherwise.
I'd rather keep them open.

Re: birfield boot
Die goed lyk interesant, maar kry mens hulle vir die Y61's? Ek sal nogal verbaas wees as daar genoeg plek in die swivel hub is hiervoor?hugejp wrote:So 'n ding?

Re: Front Diff Oil Leak
Soos voorheen genoem, is ek nie seker of ek hou van die beskerming wat daai rubber gee nie, of, of ek eerder wil kan sien as daar probleem is met seels en die bal kan sien waar die olie uit loop nie.
