 ...me too... I was concerned that the filter box (now known as a ZD 3.0's box) is big enough to run the 4.2.

I must say that since changing to the paper filter 2 days ago the turbo does seem to reach boost a bit quicker. I may have also possibly over oiled the old CRD sponge filter, causing a bit of air restriction, and due to less surface area for airflow on the sponge filter I think the bigger surface area on the paper filter will allow the filter to last longer (still changing every 5000Km)

Hi Cendric

My Troll uses the standard filter. Same as the Hardbody. Filter housing was relocated to make way for the Intercooler piping and boost pipe. I also change mine at 5000 km.

Sorry to revive an old topic, but this is something i should have resolved over a year ago, but am proud to say i am finally getting around to it.

Bit the bullet, and with my Troll's engine longevity at heart, ordered a ZD30 air filter housing from Nissan SA. The free flow filter is about to be replaced!! :woo: I can then also fit my safari snorkel that i've had now for over 18 months

Taking the Troll for an extensive preventative maintenance session and hoping the mechanic is willing and able to make a plan for me.

Pics and questions attached:

Air filter housing, part number 16500VC11A, price R3,504 incl VAT and filter. Assuming upon fitment that the part attached on the right (i think a kind of reservoir) can be removed completely, only needed with the ZD30 engine as part of airflow meter system.

The outlet - i think the trick will be machining a bracket to connect the outlet to piping through to the turbo

The current set up, patrol has done about 35,000km like this (except i've since replaced the piping with stainless, done last year)

The inlet that will connect to the fender. Notice the paper filter

Taking the Patrol to Paul @ Menlyn Brake and Clutch... he did great work on my clutch in March this year. To the extent he isn't keen to do the modification (which isnt his bread and butter) I'll probably take it to SAC Centurion and drop Grant's name around the shop  QQQ
