Thanks Christo, and Frans.

I'll look for that number on the pump.

I can get the parts from Masterparts in CT, and get them to deliver them to Swambo's CT branch to courier up to me in JHB, as I wouldn't know a Keystone piston and rings from a "lock-klip" piston, or is there somewhere reliable and reasonably priced in JHB.

Frans, can I get everything that I need from masterparts, precoms, pistons rings, all gaskets, valve stem seals and guides and anything else I forgot?

Jip the lot,all of it.
The only thing that will not work is the rearmain seal.It will work but you need to cut the old one out to fit the new seal supplied in the kit.If you have it in you hand you will see what I mean, the original seal are solid and the replacement are loose.Witch can be fitted to the old one,s housing.Or you can buy the orriginal one from the agents for about a R1000.
M/parts sell the pistons, rings, sleeves, gasgets, precoms, guides, valves, headbolts, glowplugs, main bearings, big end bearings, thrust washers, smallend bushes, cam bushes, welchplugs every thing except the oil pump they dont have.
Check the wear on/in the pump and fit it back.My new pump was supplied wrong and I checked out the old one and it went back.(300000km still looking good.)
Get your parts list together fax it to me,I will run through it and make sure everyting are in order and let you know.

Does anyone have any contacts in JHB for the spares I will be needing? I just want to get a price comparison. Masterparts is only based in the Cape. I can arrange with swambo's Cape Town branch to courier them up to Jhb, but thought if someone can get good prices here, hey a few rands saved is a few rands saved !!!

I'm learning new things all the time....

One can get keystone pistons and rings and one can get half keystone pistons with alfin insert. I am told the difference is thet Keystone pistons and rings is that the rings are tapered on both sides, where as half Keystone piston and rings the rings are only tapered on one side. There is then an Alfin insert that sits above the ring to take the brunt of the heat and pressure. Well this it what I was told..... now lets I need to hear it from the people I trust.... Frans, whats your opinion? Which is the best to go for?

PS: Frans, I spoke to Dean, I had a good laugh at the way he gives uitk@ks to some of the other people in his office. I got a price for most of the stuff. Can I fax it to you with my parts list, just to check if I've missed anything. I also got a price from Alert motor spares in JHB just to do a comparison. Alert is the okies with the half keystone pistons and rings. As soon as the crank is out I can get the measurements for the bearings and sleeves to make sure they are the correct sizes.

Hello Cedrick
You can use both,The alfin insert are great  ,but you dont need that,Those rings do not like a very long idle(no load) they can glase the sleeves. But do not worry, your car is not going to idle for weeks on.
Yes fax me the parts list I will have a look.Fax alert to,so I can see the part make for quality.
That fax nr are my office,I am leaving now and will only see it on Monday.
Cheers
Frans

I must mention to you,Very important.
If you are going to lose the turbo for what ever reason, buy the right pistons now.Do not use the keystone one's in a NA enjine.
Use them for what they are made for,TURBO.
Cheers

Thanks Frans, I faxed it through.

I'm going to take the block out tomorrow so I can send it in for engineering.

I want to put new injectors in, but now I'm not sure how to go about this. Do I send only the diesel injector pump in to check with the old injectors, or will they supply new injectors and calibrate it to the pump, or shold I wait till the motor is all back together and then send the Maiden to someone like Bosch to check the pump.

Can someone recommend a reliable place, preferably in the Alberton (JHB)area, or close by?

Frans, I found some numbers stamped on the pump, but they are very difficult to see. I'm going to make a plan to get those numbers clear so I can send them to you.

Thanks guys !!!
