Well hit our first snag. Got this lovely ac compressor and bracket and it won't fit between the chassis rails with the compressor on.
Going through tomorrow, but I have told them to continue fitting the motor without the ac for now. Busy looking for a relocation bracket that will put the ac up on the opposite side to the alternator, right up by the head. I found a couple, but not for my compressor mounting configuration. Will have to continue looking, or we will have to manufacture ourselves.

You and I will have to have a little drag race to see who's V8 is the quickest! That is IF I ever get my car back!
Your conversion looks excellent!

Hey Sias, no comparrison dude (sorry). I think I got a few more horses than you, but I am willing to give it a go hehehe :woo: :woo:
Just got back from the garage, so the pics below are an update. Engine is in it's correct spot, and the mounts now just have to be positioned. Sorry about the quality of the pics, my boy would not let me put him down as he just gotten a fright when another v8 fired up.

The aircon saga continues!! With the motor sitting where it is I cannot put it higher up either as the steering box is in the way.
New plan is to find a smaller ac compressor (diameter wise) that will fit in the lower position again.

Is it just my imagination, or does the V8 sit much lower than the old engine? Are there still some bits that need to be fitted to the engine, apart from the ones you alredy have on?

It's not as tall as the old motor, so it looks lower but that is it's spot. The gearbox is exactly where it was with the old motor.

So the centre of gravity should be a bit lower? Is the engine shorter than the 4.5? If so, that should also affect the handling positively?

:mytwocents:  :eureka: :eureka: :blonde: -- what if ... you install that ac motor underneath the passenger seat [beneathe the floor well] and fix a pully to the propshaft with a suitable belt .. and drive the ac from there??? should be out of harms way - and all you need is for that thing to turn .. whether the engine crank or propshaft turns it ... you wont feel a diffe in power loss. [not with THAT Animalngine you have in there....

o k - so i am old and stupid and come up with gagga ideas .. huh? :oldtimer: :oldtimer:
