Lianna is on her way to Home Affairs to try get this infamous letter in place of the unabridged birth certificate !!!... we hold thumbs and wait in antis............................apation.

Have to renew or get a temporary passport for my daughter. Both parents must be present and I have to show proof of address.
Only one document from local council shows my plot number and is regularly received in the mail ......four months late! That means that it is not valid any more.
Went to home affairs office on Monday. The slouching official told me with sadistical pleasure that no applications could be done as the system was being upgraded.
Tried to go to Absa in centurion yesterday only to find out that the whole country is without a home affairs system until ???

The window for both parents present is now closed and it looks as if Lindie will miss this one.

Have to reregister one of my pickups after hp was settled , only to find out my local licensing office has been caught being dishonest and the whole department is suspended until further notice. Working through an agent now , but still need the proof of residence.

I recon I will give them a scrap of paper that reads : Tin house next to moloto road. Works for most other people in this Mikey mouse place!!!!

Ok..... so the news on our unabridged birth certificate.....

The dude at home affairs ( lets call him Mr Arri Gant for ease of reference ) tells Lianna that the letters are no longer given out and was only done over the December period. I was told differently by the very helpful fellow on the 0800 60 11 90 number that I call every second day or so. So I get the frantic call from the Missus that we are in a situation of epic sexual proportions.....

Well I pride myself in being a good solver of epic sexual proportions, so a phone the 0800 number again and speak again to a very helpful lady, who gives me a number of a lady at "head office" .... I now brace myself for the epic sexual proportions that will probably come from me trying to solve the original epic sexual proportion.

All the while Lianna is at Home Affairs now filling out a document (DHA 288 and DHA 24 ) which is to ..... yes wait for it..... register a birth after 30 days...... ( I was wondering why the skys were so dark and rainy today, then realized that it was clearly Lianna's by now very very epically sexual proportioned mood.), I made contact with a lady called Alta...... ( I breath a sigh of relief )... and explain what my epic sexual proportion problem is. Alta presumably following policies and procedures insists I get Lianna to speak to Mr Arri Gant, because he is the main dude in charge. I thank Alta most profusely, and armed with this valuable information that we will now be dealing with the top brass of the Alberton Home Affairs, and blissfully unaware that Mr Arri Gant was one and the same person that Lianna had already dealt with, I relay the info on.

Mr Arri Gant is clearly un-phased by my sly antics to get this process rolling forward. After a while of speaking calming words to Lianna and trying to play whale mating calls to her over the phone, I decide to call Alta back and explain that Mr Arri Gant is not of the helpful kind as one would expect most.... no wait, all managers to be. So I say to Alta in my bestest Afrikaans " Agg, help my asseblief, ek weet nie meer nie". I could almost hear the giggles at my attempt to give my besterestest Afrikaans plea for help. She says Ok, let see what can be done. Loooooong story short, 2002 and 2003 births are problematic as some info was damaged a while back with flood damage. so the docs Lianna had to fill out will definitely help to speed up the process, as this seems to be the docs that are missing from my sons file.

The now new love of my life, Alta ( sorry Lianna, but a mans got to do what a mans got to do - but you will be the love in my life again as soon as we have the unabridged birth certificate .....hahahaha) is willing to go the extra mile to ensure if I email her a copy of the forms Lianna filled in ( seeing as Mr Arri Gant refused point blank ... and it was even a battle to get a photo copy of the document), she will see what she can do for me to push the process forward.

So its looking good the the epic sexual proportion will get resolved.

I always thought that to solve a problem of epic sexual proportions, you need to get an unabirdged birth certificate, before the conception. I.e. you do not wait 9 months for birth like most people, and certianly no longer than that for the certificate itself to be processed by HA.

But, can you not apply for a tempporary (emergency) passport?
