Hi Ant

Would love to see the work you are doing with the console fridge . I love console fridges, why oh why can’t we have after market console fridges like the cruisers and defenders get

I used to have a centre console fridge (correction ....thermo electrical cooler) in mu Navara. Worked like a charm (connected to the house battery), but it was a bit uncomfortable
to rest your arm on. The guy that installed it did a great job (but the height of the fridge made it a pain). Thats why I can't wait to see this one

I saw a thread on the Aussie Patrol forum a while back. Basically they used the existing GU Patrol centre console, and cut out the moulded plastic 'bin' under the armrest / console lid. Then the okie built an insulated aluminium box to fit inside which could accommodate a 6-pack (a lot of wasted space inside the standard console). Then he stripped an old 12v thermocooler thingy and used the fan and heatsinks and mounted them to the inner top tray. Apparently works well, although it looked pretty kak.

Buddy of mine has the cruiser with the build in fridge in the arm rest, that thing is just to awesome (I know, cause he likes reminding me about how awesomely cool his beer is)! All overland vehicle should come standard with a fridge in the centre console, or numerous 3rd parties should have products like that

I have one in the GQ, but I think it is an easier installation that the GU, Works great as an arm rest for me and takes 12 cold ones QQQ

Only thing I want to change is to see if I can put a piece of polystyrene underneath as extra insulation from the gearbox.

A little update....

Speakers....
5he factory speakers in the GRX are Clarion units. With the right head unit, they provide a fairly decent sound. I did that in David Taljaard's 4.8. sounded great.

However, the factory speakers had been replaced with junk and the tweeters cut out.

5he decision was made to replace the speakers. I recommend the Focal RSE-165 splits because they are reasonably good, reasonably well priced and have a higher sensitivity (db@1w@1m) which makes them ideal to run straight from the head unit.
