Resurrecting an oldish thread.
I'm looking for a starter motor for my 4.8 and am having problems with the vendors not recognising the part numbers listed in this thread.
And while chatting discovered that (allegedly) the difference between the 4.5 and 4.8 starter is that one has nine teeth and one has 11 teeth on the bendix! So that would make them incompatible surely, or lead to accelerated wear n tear
