Peter Connan wrote:The only way the club can grow is if the committee who has to do all the work can grow. Peter, I agree with your statement and that's part of the reason I decided to "fall on my sword".

The sad reality is that it's easy to forward ideas & opinions, whereas bringing them to fruition takes sacrifice & dedication. And that is the 2nd reason I will not be available as committee member going forward.

As far as I'm concerned we need to grow the club itself, and not only the committee. I haven't seen any new faces in years, and the "old" faces are dwindling every year

Ek sal kom saamgesels, ja. Maar tot dusver sien ek net dieselfde mense op die lys wat die naweek by die Kungwini was (met een of twee verskille).

Dit gaan van weinig nut wees as niemand anders wil idees rondgooi nie. :mytwocents:

Apologies. I've not been particularly active for the last little while because, family or work get in the way. I've had a bit of a rough few months work-wise. I noticed this thread on my phone, and felt I had to response. After signing on, I see I have three private messages to deal with - I'll get to them after this.

I have no issues with NORC. None at all. I love the club. Regrettably, I do not necessarily attend as many events as I should, but there are several reasons for this.

Firstly: Work. At this point, I've had to cancel the trip I had planned to Namakwa now because of work commitments. Sadly, whilst this is sub-optimal, the work does pay for my petrol (we don't all drive diesels) and my trips.
Secondly: Family. I have two youngish children, and I try to do my best to be involved in what they are doing. Extramurals take a lot of time over the weekends when they happen. (For me, this is first, but I've put it second because I do need to be in a position where I can take care of them as well).
Thirdly: Finances. I try and focus on events which bring me out of where I am normally based, and get me elsewhere. That is part of the point. Travelling the distances, paying for fuel and accommodation and trails are unfortunately expensive.

In short: I've been a regular attendee of a chunk of NORC events for the past two years. I plan to attend NORC events when the time, workplace and finances allow me to attend them. I wish the best for the club, and would like it to be a success. However, I'm not always available (refer the previous points), and will attend as the time and occasions suit me.

On a side note: I believe I made it very clear that I was not available this weekend. I had had other plans lined up for a considerable period. I would have liked to join in, but this would not have been possible.

I believe my father and myself would be able to make the meeting. He should be able to, in all likelihood. My plans may change (work). But please add us to the list in the meantime.

Thanks Ian. I will make it so. Would like to see that crazy mate of mine again.
