Update.

So with a lot of help from Tinus, who referred me to Frans who had a sub assembly for me, it looks as if I am sorted.
Just had a call from the engineering shop. The head tested good. (vacuum and presure) so only need to be skimmed.

Paul please before you rush into assembling the engine ,make 100%certain that the piston heights are correct and that and your cylinder combustion are in spec
how many times has that cylinder head been skim and how much was taken off when skimming......if you chase the compression ration to high you are going to get another hand granade :oldtimer: :oldtimer:

MAKE SURE OF THE SPECS....!!!!!!

Yip and sleeve protrusion !!!!!!!!!..... the sleeves must NOT be lower than the block, worst case they must be at least flat with the block !! This I learnt from Frans

Thanks guys for all the help and input. It is much appreciated.
I got the block from Frans. He has checked it and just recommended a cut to 1st oversize. The rest is all good here said.
The engineering shop said that they are only going to give it a very light skim. (First time skimed)
I decided to play it safe and ordered the thicker headgasket from the agents just to be on the safe side.
Replacing the mains and big ends and all head bolts.

Errol, if I am not mistaken the zd30 combustion chamber is in the piston and the head is flat so skimming doesnt influence the compression.

Only problem is that the timing cover has trouble lining up as the bolt holes sit lower and lower the more you skim it

Thanks for all the advice.
Michael. You are correct. The combustion chamber is on the piston. It is a 46mm cup in the centre of the piston.
As for the front timing cover. Yes I trust this not to be a problem since I am fitting the thicker gasket and the very light skim on the head.

Paul when you skim the block you must bolt the front cover on and skim it with the block.......

Willie.

I am not going to skim the block. Just the head.
Frans cheked the block and only suggested that I cut to 1st oversize.
