I get about 5 km/l around town and about 6-7km/l highway.

Towing a Desert Wolf camping trailer I get around 5.5 km/l.

When you take your patrol for its service get them to check the ignition timing, should be set at 5 BTDC.

Change plugs every 30 000 KM and use a new gasket so you dont get any air leaks around the inlet manifold which will make the engine run erratic/rough.

I use a 10W30 motor oil . I am currently using HAVOLINE FORMULA SAE 10W30. http://southafrica.havoline.com/product ... oils3.aspx

The 4.8 uses a return fuel line so any fuel not used goes back to the main tank. Fuel pressure regulator sits on the front drivers side of the engine next to the two fuel inlet /return lines and it works in conjunction with the inlet manifold pressure.

The 4.8 is one amazing engine when its tuned and maintained correctly according to the Nissan workshop manual.

Ok last night the fuel light came on. I will fill up tonight and confirm, but it looks like the last tank works out to 5.5km/l. This included Kungwini, the trip there and back (only bit of long road) and the rest around town. I will put a bottle of injector cleaner in and run the next tank, which will include Groenkloof this weekend (need to show the Landies how it's done).

Ok on 285 75 16 my 4.8 reads 10% under ....do yourself the favour . Clear your car clock also your gps trip meter
Have a look witch one gets to 100km first my gps gets to 100 then my odo meter is at 90 so it under reads by 10km every 100 . The speedo will read spot on but has nothing to do with the odo . On 500km you have to add 50 to get correct feul consumption....
Om te meet is om te weet. :blonde:

Ok so in actual fact it might be closer to 6km/l? I will try that, but unfortunately I don't have a GPS

I will borrow one just so I can make sure. Thanks Tinus!
