After 6 years of driving a Lexus Patrol, and before I sold it, I considered switching from 1UZ to 2UZ.
Since the plumbing and wiring was all in place as well as bell housing, so no real changes necessary.
And as you say a "kannie-dood" engine, but with much more torque.
In my case that would have been quick and easy.
But to build the conversion from scratch would still be a lot of work and careful selection of the right the mackie for the job.
The price of the engine is less than 20% of the costs though - if done right.

2. Jy gaan verseker baie gou agterkom hoeveel ligter op brandstof n diesel is as jy hom begin werk.
3. As jy hom ooit sou wou verkoop gaan jy peanuts kry omdat dit nie n idiale conversion is vir n werks voertuig nie.

As jy ‘n v8 of ander petrol enjin in ‘n bakkie sit, doen jy dit om te jaag, nie om te werk nie!

Hooor wat jy sê, veral mbt brandstof verbruik..
Mens kry wel n 4.8 patrol bakkie vanaf Nissan fabriek...(net nie hier by ons nie).

Kyk ek se nie n 4.8 in n bakkie sal nie great wees nie. Daar was mos een op laas jaar se duine trip en dis actually nogals cool!...... veral as n speelding. Dis maar net vir n werks esel nie idiaal nie.
Om n v8 in n stasiewa te sit is n ander storie, daar is baie opsies dan.
