Tinus, Op die pad raak ek hom nou gewoond en hy ry dem lekker - wag net vir sy goetertjies dan gaan ek hom bietjie van die pad af vat en kyk hoe kom ek reg - want dis maar eintlik hoekom ek hom gekry het. Maar sal def. laat weet as hy sy vuurdoop gehad het !!

I have used Yokohama AT / Pirelli Scorpio AT / Kumho MT / BFG AT tyres and found BFG to be the most durable and affordable in the long run ... my Patrol has 305 / 17 BFG KM2 MT tyres fitted and I am most impressed. Yes there is more road noise than with ATs but their performance off road is great.

Altyd n plesier maar is jy happy met hulle?

Baie happy met hulle, Het vorige naweek bietjie klippe gery naby Die Kelders en die naweek by die Patrol 60ste by Melkbos eerste keer sand geproe met hulle en is meer as happy (afgegaan tot 1.2 bar). David se raad was om net te go met die Auto (sonder om tiptronic te gebruik), ek het dit probeer en wat 'n moerawiese plesier. Maar lang storie in kort - ek is baie gelukkig met die KM2's

mooi man!!!! wanneer dit regtig tegnies begin raak verkies ek om tiptronic te gebruik wat sodra ek poeier soek maak die auto dat jy afgear wanneer jy nie moet nie jy moet verstaan dat ek saam pieter c en bogey man hulle ry en hulle het nie brieke nie!!!!!!
ook as jy klip trappe klim is dit beter om in een rat te bly om beter momentum te behou

It was very obvious this weekend how much difference there is in traction between muddies and A/T's even in dry conditions.

3Provinsies was very dry, and most of the difficult obstacles consist of, as Tinus so aptly put it "round rocks held together with dust". There were lots of loose rocks, mostly fairly rounded and varying from fist-sized bigger, on dust that was in places up to three inches thick.

This was exactly the type of terrain where I expected the various tyre types to be almost equal, because no tire can get through the loose stuff on the steep slopes because it just keeps coming down from above. One of these obstacles is a fairly steep uphill on the Tierkloof route which we drove on Sunday morning. There were only two vehicles who could crawl up, and both these were on muddies (although one of the two had the added advantage of a front locker), but the rest of us all needed to use significant momentum. The other obstacle was an even steeper downhill. On the route's literature this is graded as a grade 4 obstacle, and I quote "Ons kon nog nie hierdie steilte uitkom nie, net af." Here again the muddie-equiped cars had significantly more control over their descents, and could go down more slowly.

Oh and by the way Wimpie with his 4.5GRX with ARB lockers front and rear and riding on Bridgestone muddies at 1.4 Bar managed to drive up this obstacle.
Ronel promised to put a plaque in the reception office attesting to this acheivement.
