Tinus & Andries,
Unfortunately (or must I say fortunately :)) I'm from Hermanus, but do come up from time to time for business to Centurion and Witbank. Don't know when it will be again at this stage as it it's very random and "unstructured" - but thanks guys this is an awesome gesture and highly appreciated - and if it can work out at some stage I will definitely take you up on this offer !!

Jan.Dup,

Gaan ry gerus daai GRX.

Patrol fan!

Modern earthmoving machines also have adopted automatic transmissions just about universally. I suspect for the same reasons as the military: it makes it possible for a less skilled driver to achieve the desired result without damaging the machine.

Ja, I agree Gerrit, that is why DIE BAAS, meaning ME, drives the manual and not Klaas ... it is MINE!!!

An3s, the 4.8 manual clutch is softer than my wife's VW clutch, so if you have driven one that is either hard or juddering, then there is something wrong!
I tow wherever I go (well ... mostly), either the trailer or a boat and the manual exceeds my expectations thank you ... and as a bonus it is quite handy when challenged by boy racers ...

Jan Dup, jy moet praat - ek bly in Durbanville en my pa-hulle het 'n huis op Franskraal, so ek kom darem so af en toe daai kant verby - ons moet kontak hou en 'n toetsrit organise.

I would suggest that you do drive both and then decide. I was / am scared that with towing or hard work that gearbox oil temperature, shuttle valve failure, gearbox ECU or torque converter problems etc would spoil it when I least want it to! The manual I can still drive without a clutch if I have to ... hopefully it would not be necessary though!
But I have to agree, in a lot of circumstances the auto has merits!

Decisions ... decisions ...

Ps.

Ek stuur vir jou my kontak detail.

So hy is so in jou spesifikasie, behalwe vir die ratkas. My gevoel is egter as ek ooit 'n petrol sal vat sal dit beslis die GRX wees,
Daai "triptronic box" is net bobaas.

Sterkte met jou soektog en besluit.

Groete
Louis

He he he ...

Smaak my ek sal eendag 'n GRX moet loop ry om te kyk waaroor kla julle manne so ... lol!
