Why is it all the diesel okes are worrying about fuel, and all the petrol okes just carry on like normal (which is to say, driving from filling station to filling station)?
Closer to the time they are also going to realise that like Land Rovers they are going to need to bring a jerrycan of oil as well :rolling:

we are just trying to calculate the extra fuel needed to tow the petrol vehicles after the died crossing all the water I am hearing about. spark plugs don't work when wet. :rolling:

My engine does not start once stalled in water.
But that I consider a safety measure.
Unless you can keep momentum while going through the water, I am not interested in trying to restart it. Then it is best to pull out first. Be that by a diesel or a petrol!

Ok so just to update you petrol heads on my fuel consumption on the Buffalo Gorge trip.
Filled up just before I left home, did a round trip of 550km and used 84 liters of fuel. This gives me an avarage fuel consumption of 6.5km/L for the whole trip including all playing offroad we did over the weekend and racing Tinus up that hill on the N1 at Menlyn..........

Not to bad I think

All inclusive mine was about 5ks per litre
Which is not bad for a petrol v8, given how we belted up every donga to cover Christo in dust.
But then I did not race anyone home.
6,5 is more what I do without 4x4ing in between.
