So finally I started building a rear bumper for my wagon......

Takes longer than I thaught, but Im sure its going to be well worth it in the end.

One question, the spare wheel sits very low from factory and I have seen many Patrols with after marker bumpers and the wheel sits higher than the bumper.
Do you modify the wheel carrier or what?

Michael, you've turned black by the looks of the photos! :rolling:

Some of the aftermarket bumpers have a nice, rounded cutout into the top of bumper for the tire to fit into. Mine does not :redface:

So... I modified my spare wheel carrier so that the rear tire sits about 5 cm higher (to clear the steel bumper) and 2.5 cm further back (to prevent the fat rubber from rubbing against the rear door).

Thanks for the tip Christo, I will also mod mine.

Ha ha yes, that is my trusty friend Alex :lol:
He has been working for me for many years and is a welder by trade....... and my welding scills are quite poor.

Hopefully today I will make some progress and maybe finish the job
