quote "The no boost fuel can be set on the pump.(at the top cover,turn it out.)" ...Can I do that or does that need to be done at bosch?
If I can do it, which way do I turn it?

Hi,sorry for the late reply.
No you can do it your self without messing with the main settings.Turn it out for less fuel.Only thing will happen if you go to mutch,the car will feel less responcive before it boost.One's on the boost that setting mean nothing.

Why do I get the feeling that my original decision not to tamper with my stock standard n/a 4.2TD was probably the right one? Rather boring and reliable than wild and temperamental? Or am stirring now?

Well on a lighter note, last Thursday, 19h00 we decided to join our 7 year old son who was going with his Ouma and Oupa to Ponta d Oura. whithin 2 hours the Maiden was packed and ready to go..... but with a difference..... before leaving and putting diesel in I put in about 150ml of 2 stroke oil. I have been doing this for years. My old Isuzu 280DT with 500 000 km and still origional pump, turbo and motor, used to get 150ml every second tank fill. This was the first time I gave the Maiden the extra lubrication in her injector pump.... hmmm doesn't sound above belt hey?.... ... But what a difference.... I noticed there was much less smoke and a much quieter motor !!!..... So I will continue to do this every second tank fill !!

I just had a quick look at this post again...... 2 years down the line from doing this rebuild and besides having nonsense from when a rogue bolt shot up into the radiator and the bad mistake from me by buying a non genuine Nissan head after the head got cooked.... MY SWEET IRON MAIDEN RUNS LIKE A DREAM.

This machine impresses me EVERY time we go on a trail or track !! I love listening to the spooling up of the turbo..... the air being dumped on gear changes..... and the delicate thundering sound of Chugga Chugga Chugga as the Iron Maiden climbs hills and inclines that I would have to climb on my hands and knees, with a rope around my waste with someone pulling from above.....

Yeah I know she ain't fast... but I don't like my Maiden fast.....
