The patrol Pickup needs a minimum 42mm spacer either side to match track-width of the front,which would also address the clearance issues you are experiencing. 6mm spacers together with your current 30mm may help with this, but personally i would not run two sets of spacers together. However, should you do this, you still wont match your front track-width,at only 36mm.

I suggest sell out the 30mm spacers and get proper 42 - 45mm rear axle spacers. Some okes run 45mm, i actually think mine are 45's if i remember correctly.

Hey Cedz,... just for the record,.. Land cruiser Wheel studs are definitely stronger that Nissan patrol studs. Unfortunately its true. Patrol = 12 LC =15 ,...Patrol studs are known for stripping or sheering,particularly when over torqued at wheel fitment centres. However,.. as there are 6 on the patrol and 5 on the cruiser, one could start a different argument in that regard.

...... Are Cruisers 5 stud??? I would have put my rooster on the block that they were 6 stud..... With a little Google help I see some 5 stud and 6 stud.... but no time to read through all the stuff.... I got shhhhh loads of work to do

Haha,.. in a way you are correct, this is how it goes:


LC 70,75, 76,78,79,100,105 = 5 stud
LC 80, prado, hilux - 6 stud.

Ja, I think I will have to go this route....

I run steel 45mm spacers but if i did it again i would opt for Alluminium... just a personal thing. Im sure the steel is stronger (my decision in the first place), but really i cant see any issue with allu in a part such as a spacer. In fact it would reduce weight on each hub, whereas steel may rob slightly more power, ... but i cant say for sure.

Keep you 30mm spacers as long as you need... nothing wrong with that, unless you getting very bad scrubbing of the tyres... otherwise the only drawback really is tyre track width, but that is not a major issue at all.

The scrubbing is not too bad, only slightly on axle twisters. But it might be more of a problem if i one day fit 285's.

Unsprung weight. It is a major effect on suspension performance. The more weight you have physically connected to the wheels the poorer the suspension performance is. Not sure the effect will be on a donkey Patrol but performance vehicle manufacturers are fanatical about it.

Strength wise. The spacers are all compressional forces. Unless you have studs seated in the spacer and at 45mm you may the compressional strenght of aluminium is enough. I had 30mm aluminium spacers with seated studs and after being airborne and several 10,000 km they were completely fine when i removed them.

I had 50 mm spacers on the Patrol (sold) and it looked great but the major problem was all the paint was being removed from the rear wheel arches. Also the worry of the spacer wheel nit coming loose and then of course the extra strain on the hub and wheel bearings.

Cedric, when are you making another batch of these spacers? I am keen on a set
