Johnny had aimed at a date which is already programmed. He has asked on Facebook for an alternative date. I would like to suggest that we change the venue of our 11th April event from Hennops to John Rock 4x4. What's the feeling of the forum?
This will be an easy change to the program and as it is seemingly a new track I am sure we will have some interest, just note that this date does fall over the Easter weekend witch could have an effect on the number of vehicles attending.

Myself already has prior commitments for that weekend but I will handle the admin part as always.

Even under Lock down 3 the June trip will not be happening as there is still no cross provincial border travel allowed...

As for a day trip locally' that is still unclear but looks highly unlikely as it will be seen as a gathering.

So the hope is still on for Aug and the river trip................................

A possible future forum event venue? The dunes at Khawa in South West Botswana, very near Tshabong and a chip and a put from Mabuasehube?

On the bots side? Your tent  it's free wild camping at khawa but that being said it would go a long way if the forum contributed financially or otherwise to the community at Khawa as part of the event for the privilege of exploring thier area. We could say that every participant contributes R250 as an example towards a donation of needed essentials to the village (various options can be explored but as a group we should have a positive attitude
towards charitable contributions in rural areas that we would like to enjoy anyway) On the SA side if you stay the night at Kuruman you could be at Khawa before lunch if you leave early the next day...

Have to be honest I have never been but the gaborone 4x4 club has an annual event there and the reviews are awesome, they also do a meaningful contribution to the village in some way. I'm going to Mabuasehube next month and I'm thinking about going to Khawa for 2 days before hand to check it out as it's not too far t the way. But heck it's a heap of sand dunes, who doesnt love that :rolling:

Ok, sounds like a nice outing with the possibility to extend into a Kgalagadi Trip ...

When you visit will you get us the detail on as much as possible and then we see if we can put an event together for next year?

Please please get us as much as possible info, looking at October next year to do this trip, and if we plan properly those that want to can book in the Kgalagadi for a few days..

Hi Drik, the fuel situation in Botswana has put a massive spanner in the works. They have restricted each vehicle to P250 max purchase per filling station and that doesnt get one far in the old 4.8 so we have had to postpone/cancel the trip out to Khawa and mabuasehube QQQ but I will still get all the info I can from my folks and the some good mates who are members of the Gabs 4x4 club, we are going to try go to Gaborone to visit the folks in 2 weeks but Gabs is currently in lockdown due to a localised outbreak. In any case I have heard so many awesome stories of the area so we just need to get the finer details and I'm confident that it will be a great forum event. Will report back when I have more

Are the September and November trips still on for this year?
And how does it work? Book individually and then just meet there or do you do group bookings?
Best, Klaus
