So last night I parked at the little local shopping centre and after I got out a random stranger came up to me and we more or less had the following conversation :
him : Hi, sorry to bug you but is that the standard load bin? I really like it.
me : Hi. Yes, standard bin, just has cattle rails added.
him : it's a Hardbody, right?
me : no, it's a Patrol.
him :....ok. Did you import it from overseas?
me : no, they're sold by Nissan SA, but they're built in Japan.
him :...so, it's not an NP300?
me : no, it's kinda like the 300's big brother.
him :...what year is it?
me : 2015.
him :Ok thanks, cheers.
Now I've read many times that the Patrol hasn't sold well in SA because Nissan didn't market it very well. I always took this, with a mix of SA being toyota crazy, to mean people knew about the Patrol but just didn't realise what an awesome machine it is. Apparently I was wrong, and people just don't know it exists
