Sure it wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate. Problem is they do hang under the sill, so on a lowish car they would be vulnerable, but on something as high as David's, I doubt they would ever touch.

I would definitely try something like this, I think it is a great idea.
Due to the height of my car I must admit that I would like to have a step to reach my roof rack, the door sills just do not suffice.

Don't like the Landy steps. The hinge mechanism always gets messed up against rocks, or bent. I am hoping to do a hang on type setup, or still better, use my two hi-lift points with a slide in step that gets held in place with pins. But my over engineering will probably add another 30kg to the car by the time I am done

Nice Peter, however, the slippery, round rock rock sliders I have keeps my MiL at home, and my wife on her toes...

John, these hug the car and do not protrode past the edge of the door.

So even better at keeping MIL's away.

Unfortunately 'n don't have a budget right now to make a pair for my car to show you what it looks like...

As it happens, the first set was fitted just before the river trip. But on a Y61, not a Y60.
The owner decided to cut them a bit shorter in order not to have to trim the plastic arches, which is not what I would recommend.
