Hi I am checking to see if you managed to get a high amp alternator. I have a 2010 4.8GRX and the alternator has just died and Nissan want to charge me R16k to fix.

The easiest is to contact Graham @ Gtech and get a refurb/reman unit. I investigated some very expensive options, some with ridiculous lead times, but opted for the original part that was refurbed.

Guys
Be careful of those so called up-rated rewired alternators
They need a lot of revs to reach peak amps
Meaning you might have an "120 A" alternator installed
I have a simple Lucas Universal 55A in my TD42
We both drive some difficult terrain for a few hours in the heat at fairly low RPM
- Aircon on
- fridges drawing peak current
My Cheap Lucas Universal supplies 30-40 Amps
Your expensive upgrade struggles at low revs and only supplies 10-15 Amps
Pasop....
Down the N1 different story I know

I bought an alternator from Anthony Forgey. Tinus pointed me in that direction. Good price and looked like new. OEM 110 amp jobbie for similar ballpark price of a generic new one. Maybe give him a shout if you need one
I haven't fitted it yet because I ended up in hospital but that's beside the point. It was the right alternator, good condition, right price, delivered in a couple of days, top service. All boxes ticked
