Right, let's make it 15th July then. I'll discuss possible venues with Tinus.

If you want your radio programmed, please just PM me the make and model number so that I can track the relevant software down before hand.

For those who cannot make it on the above-mentioned date, but will like their radios programmed before river trip, please just arrange with me before hand. I'm in Menlyn most days of the week, although I'll be in Randburg for a week or two sometime in July.

Tijmen, the easiest option would be a UHF / license free radio. There are restrictions on this in terms of the Watts it's allowed to put out, as well as the frequencies you can use, but I believe most forum folk have LFR radios.

It is way cheaper to go handheld route for either VHF or UHF and just doing a permanent installation on the arial. Get handheld speaker mic and you basically have the same setup as a permanent radio with the option to take the radio out when needed and required

It looks like a good affordable option, if used on its own it should work for convoy purposes, with an external antenna it will be even better.
