Hi Fanus.

Speak to Johan Kriek from Springbok imports, he imported mine from the UK. He is very clued up on the process as he has done many and is thus well connected, I think, with some of the people in the relevant departments. However, I do not think its a good idea because of the rust issue in the UK. I know they are very cheap over there, I paid the equivalent of around R42k, £3800 back in 2010 for a 2001 3.0 GR+. It was only when I had the chassis pressure cleaned in South Africa that I was able to see the extent of the rust and how much rock salt was hidden in all the cracks and crevices. After going trough all the hoops of getting import permission it failed COR time after time and I ended up buying a rust free one here in SA. Decided to keep the rust bucket for spares.
What worried me the most, was the rust on the inside of the chassis and I had 5mm plates welded in high stress places just in case. Half the bolts holding the gearbox in place snapped due to rust when it had to be removed to replace 5th gear. That Afrikaans saying that good koop is dier koop is so true.

Regards.
Barry
