Diesel non turbo wanted

Apparently a guy from Melkbosstrand went to test drive it today and he's 95% taking it.
He put in an offer on a 4.5L that was also accepted and he's making his mind up.

There's possibly still a bit of hope for me...5% short of done is still a slim chance

If all falls through tomorrow, I'm booking my flight ASAP !

Otherwise the hunt for a diesel troll will continue

The Melkbosstrand guy beat me by minutes. Had someone on their way from town with cash deposit to hold it until I could book tickets.

It's a long story, but what basically happened is the guy in Melkbos (DH70 on the forum) bought it from the guy in Strand.
Only after he bought it, he found out it had been patched to hide a number of faults and issues.
He tried to get his money back from the seller, but that didn't go to well. I see the thread has been deleted off of the forum.


Luckily I waited it out and found myself a GU 4.2D

Hi Cobus. Tinus told me you're still looking for a 4.2D - mine may be up for sale - see the Vehicles for Sale section. More pressing right now is hearing about your ZD30 grenading. I've got one too - that's my daily driver - got over 320k kms now. Never opened engine. Please share any insights/tips/stuff to check out or proactively look at lest the same fate befall me. Graham from GTech and quite a few others have told me it's a ticking timebomb - esp. since the pre 2003 (mine's a 2002) ZD30's were problematic.

Good Morning. Yes my 2004 Hardbody ZD30 did a handgrenade on me in Janaury 2016. It happened on the saturday and was actually booked in for service the monday. Doubt whether they would've picked it up. I was driving at 115km/h and just lost all power, when switching off the radio i thought i blew the turbo. Oil everywhere. It took me about 7 months before i got it back due to 1 mechanic ripping me off and the other 1 just taking his time. Long story short is the vacuum pump blew up( nissan cant even tell me why); which caused it to lose all oil and seize up. Fixing it i was quoted 38k just on parts excluding labour and machine work. I ended up putting in an imported engin. Done +-10000km on new engine with only the boost pipe perishing. So answer to your question, In my mind its difficult to see when it will explode.
