Laurent, always happy to help but honestly I am a bit out of my depth here.

I still suspect low pressure pump delivery. After pumping for a while (for the period you put the car in neutral and back to drive) such a pump would have enough time to re-fill the piping. Then the engine would run normally for a while again.

The fuel pressure must be measured with the engine running and drawing fuel.

I want to suggest that you contact Graham (Pathmaker on this forum). He is a mechanic with lots of experience and all the necessary equipment for these tests and with these these vehicles, and while he is very far from you, he is a keen diver who comes to Ponta fairly frequently, and perhaps you could meet him there or ii=on the way there?

Hi if your car is starving going uphill and ok downhill it is fuel pressure problem ie dirty fuel filter which the modern day new part fitters cant locate and just leave it unchanged
and that's where you need to start
heavy on fuel and black smoke......check that big black air intake pipe between air cleaner and throttle body for cracks
Good luck

You mention black smoke when idle high, that meens to much fuel for the amount of air. Just to make sure what you have.
You mention a tb45 but I think it is in a safari. Is this correct? Was it a transplant and is it carb or injectors?

A pump is not that much so i can just change it so this is done.
I forgot to mention that this issue happens sometimes... liek since i ve posted the issue while i was in Durban, it did not happen gain in town...

I imagine that when Graham comes around he comes in his bath suits and with no tools.. hahah would feel bad to bother him on his way diving...
They ve checked the tank and said to be very clean.

Any mechanic around Mpumalanga that could help which you know ?

Thanks for your reply,

They said they ve opend the fuel tank and checked for dust and others but said to be verry clean.
Concerning the black smoke i think i ll just clean the flow meter with a proper spray to see if any change.
I ll check for cracks and see if everything is tighten.

Thanks again
