Not sure about shimming the Nissan diffs, I have never actually done it myself, but on those LSD's I have fiddled with, there has always been some method of adjusting (the shims just get you into a "zone" as the adjustment is quite limited).

However, I think you can use quite a stiff diff on the road, it might just cause a little bit of tire wear and some squeeling in underground car parks?

You do realize that you can tighten that rear LSD up significantly for almost no cost don't you? This would definitely by my first move if I was in your shoes.
I really need to get around to this and have someone look at mine as well....

Anybody that you can recommend that knows what he is doing???
