We will be driving from Pretoria to Mzuzu. The SUV will accommodate my needs perfectly but it looks like the Patrols are very scarce. A buddy of mine told me that if I don't come right with a Patrol that I should look at the Jeep Overland. Not too sure about that since parts might be difficult to obtain.

Zak,

Patrols are very popular in the countries you are mentioning. Why not purchase one there rather than in SA? Nissan Zambia sells more Patrols in a month than Nissan SA! :surprised:

That's great, thanks for your help guys. I'm looking for a diesel Patrol, from what I saw the 3l GRX is the one. It needs to be R150k or under and I will have to trade a NP200 and maybe a motorbike.

Just a correction on the 3.0CRD. its post 2007. so with SA's slow sales figures I would say your best bet would be 2008 model. they will however be out of your price range. why don't you look for a good 4.2TDI. they are well with in your budget and even leaving room for some extras. Michael and Cedric both run them with many happiness. Michael and I did some comparison tests on the river trip and the fuel consumption was very close. not much in it. EGT's and the rest are all very close. Michael knows these motors very well and would be able to give you good assistance to get the best out of it. they are very robust motors and would do great in Africa. :mytwocents:

I will however keep an eye out for a good CRD3.0 and let you know

A buddy of mine is selling his 4.2 diesel GU shape.
He would let it go for around 100', maybe 110'.
