Jy moet Fokus Dude
Even if diesel becomes the mainstream fuel, petrol will remain a by-product of diesel manufacturing.
Resulting in lower petrol prices. That is a long term prediction.

Then, what diesel will rule exactly?
If it is low sulphur, then its a problem for me, and for all the 4.2 koolstof ovens out there...

Alex, I was not referring to the Fuel or the future of it. I was mainly GARRAING Tinus, Its a thing we are always joking about. He will understand!!
That's why my post started with Tinus.

And the increase in demand I was talking about is aimed at diesel Patrols. not Diesel. I most probably even wont be able to drive anymore of old age when the time comes where Petrol will be so much cheaper than diesel. I fill up with 10ppm diesel at the pump for 70cents less than 95octaine Petrol plus my car is lighter on fuel then a petrol. If I poor 500ppm its R1+ a litre cheaper. it can run on 500ppm, 50ppm and 10ppm any day. and if I only use this low sulphur diesel it only needs to be serviced every 15000km. so there is no where on this round planet at the moment or the near future where a petrol 4x4 will beat a diesel on any level except for kw's. so if the only thing a petrol owner can claim is driving up HUGE sand dunes and topping 190km. I say congratulations. o yes then there's the reliability issue. mmm if I use my car maybe twice a year or only when I go on holiday or weekend outings it most probably will also be very reliable.
I don't know how often you venture outside of south Africa. but the petrol and diesel is very crappy. I will take my chances with a diesel any day across the border. not so sure about a petrol.

real life truth is . I can afford to drive my Patrol everyday. because its not that expensive to run. and if you drive faster that 160km you'll get locked up. Many a diesel Patrol can run 160km/h. this is also Africa we live in. we are about 20years behind the rest of the world. so there will still be plenty a diesel available for 4.2D owners for some years to come. maybe they will even run out of spares for 4.2D Patrols before they run out of high sulphur diesel. And no car is problem free. not petrol or diesel. no Toyota. no landy. no ford. no VW ext. they all give their problems at some point.

I say, take care of your car and it will take care of you.

OR MAYBE I JUST LOVE THE CLUTTRE OF A DIESEL ENGINE IN THE MORNING WHEN ITS COLD AND THE SMELL OF DIESEL HANGING AROUND THE ENGINE BAY, THE FACT THAT IT SMOKES. WHEN YOU START IT, IT SAYS "GOODAY SIR, I AM READY TO WORK!! LETS GO" QQQ QQQ

Hi Josh

I was not really asking for an argument. But take all your points.
There are more important things to argue about in this world.

I grew up in Durban, with a dad that spent every weekend on his yacht. I got sick of the smell of diesel. Maybe thats my problem!
