Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Did you check to see if you can get your shackles over a 20mm bar. I started going that thick and found the shackle would not go so lekker. So I opted for 16mm on my Sani.
This is the largest of my shackles and the one size smaller than this is tight, I don't think 20mm.

Oh, and I used the same 16mm steel bar for the front recovery points and spring hangers on the Sani
Welded directly to the chassis top, rear and bottom for a total of around 350mm around the edges, then joined with a cross member of 5mm thick 75mm wide channel, welded around the entire edge front and rear of the channel. Then for good measure, the channel is welded the entire length of the existing cross member (under the radiator), and along the bottom, three bridging plates of 100mm were added from the chassis to the channel with around a 40mm over lap under the chassis for welding surface.

I used the recovery points to mount a 10mm plate in each corner that perfectly lines up with the Hardbody bullbar feet/legs so as to keep the Sani looking like a Sani.

Yes, the shackel does fit over the 20mm plate because it's a Patrol I'm using the 4.75T shackels, one size up from the ones on the Sani.

Putting back the original bumper this weekend!

Decided on Thursday we going to Lesotho this week, bumper will not be finished in time.

But I have another project that I need to finish before we leave, a home build storage system and slider for fridge.

This next picture is the completed recovery bracket and is bolted to chassis as shown in previous picture and 2 x 12mm bolts through chassis where original towbar is mounted.

Saw his 'trol with the new 33"es on the other day. It stands as high as mine (with the suspension upgrade) now. I'm going to have to go and buy myself 33"es soon - I'm getting an inferiority complex...
