This is obviously a very short version of everything that I have done on the Patrol but I enjoyed it a lot!
It gives me so much pleasure to see how everything comes together as planned and when it looks better than you were expecting it is just so rewarding.

Up to this stage I have done the engine, fitted the new intercooler, had a 3" straight exhaust fitted, done the paintwork and it was ready for its first off-road test. we decided to go to Groenkloof as it was on my doorstep and it is scenic as well with plenty of game to see

It is now 7 months after I first started working on the Patrol. I have only done 3,000km after the maiden voyage and it just keeps getting better and better.

I have recently fitted a snorkel (although it is just fitted and not connected to the engine as I am still looking for another air box) as well as some new/second hand 33” BF Muds which really brings out the Patrol’s looks. I haven’t really taken any pictures of how it looks at the moment, but will get it nice and clean and do a bit of a photo shoot.

Here is one just after the snorkel fitment and tyres

So here is the breakdown of what the Patrol cost me up to date

Patrol purchase R42,000
Engine Rebuild R23,000
Odds and ends R3,000
Intercooler & Pypes R2,200
Madman EMS R1800
3” Exhaust R2,800
Snorkel R1,900
BF Muds R 8,000

I might have not mentioned everything, but as it stands now the Patrol cost me R85,400 which is a steal in my opinion

Im very very happy with how far I am and how well the rebuild turned out.

Things I still want to do in order

1. Make a youtube video to show Marinus and Ian that it can do 160km/h with ease on a straight road and not down a mineshaft
2. Install a new air box so I can connect the snorkel
3. make mud flaps from conveyor.... not sure how it will come out, but I think it’s going to work
4. Dyno Tune and see how many horses he makes!! And yes it’s a he, where have you seen a she with 33” muds and a snorkel???

I have checked the boost this morning as well, at 1,600rpm it delivers 0.4bar of boost and at 2,200 it has full boost of 0.7bar and holds it there up to 3,000rpm where it drops to about 0.6bar up to 3,500rpm

Hi Micheal

Great werk wat jy gedoen het. Wat was jou prosedure om die rims te verf? Het jy die tires afgehaal en die hele rim geverf of net buite en watter verf het jy gebruik?

Groete

Ok Ok Sorry Sorry, but it does also not count when you connect the end of the speedo cable to your portable drill while you are driving :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
