The biggest factor is probably air density (well, that and the sheer weight of the machine) - which is why your car has more grunt on a cold day than on a hot day. With branches your air intake system is heating the intake air up even more than it otherwise would. Try insulating your air intake system. Should help, at least a little.

Hi Clem,
Yep I posted a thread a while ago asking whether I can use ceiling type insulation to wrap up my intake pipe, but no clear answers as yet. But intake system gets VERY hot. The hose clamp holding the part where the MAF sensor is gets so hot after even 3 minutes of idling, that it burns me when I touch it...
What you think??

That doesn't sound good. Whatever you use for insulation, make sure it'sfire resistant and will not absorb oil (which can turn it into a fire hazard over time).
Engine temperatures in the normal range should not affect power, but high inlet temperatures would.

Sharp thanks Pete. Running some tests on the MAF sensor tomorrow morning again. Methinks i may be onto something (see my other post regarding voltage on MAF).
Apparently faulty sensor can cause lack of power. Will keep you guys posted :)

I think you must get some of the reflective insulating fabric used in racing cars from ATS Motorsport. It will help at least to some degree.
But like Peter says, that amount of heat so quickly is very unusual.
