The Faces trip was my second trip in the dunes. My first trip was the Luderitz /Walvibaai trip. Fuel consumption was 2.3km/l. 5 persons in the car. The second trip was the faces trip.
2 people in the car. Fuel consumption 3.2km/l. This time I used more low range and kept it in auto. I used about a 180 liters.
The Patrol out performed all the cars and at one stage even managed to beat the guides cruiser up the dune on the play day when we got rid of all the weight. Play day was more driven in manual mode.
You need experiance in the sand, and because it was my second time in the dunes it made a differance in how you drive the dunes and where you are in the convoy. The guys at the back struggle more in the churned up sand than the guys in front.
The tyres would also make a differance in the sand. I could definately see a differance between the Bridgestone AT and Procompt Extreme AT tyres.Procompt tyre outperformed the Bridgestone tyres.
