Andre,
I had another think about my comment regarding the down hill and the max vacuum.
Guys with proper diesel knowledge must still be crawling of laughter. :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
That is rubbish with reference to a diesel.
That only applies to petrol engines with a butterfly. Diesels only cut the energy source (diesel) that reducing power generated by the engine.
That said I still would just keep an eye on the smoke during normal driving and would not yet throw money at it.
Sorry for the initial incorrect info.

Thanks Bruin Beer,

My truck is not smoking under normal driving conditions, accelerating or decelerating - against compression. Maybe a little bit of black smoke under hard acceleration.

It only has 135K km on the clock, so I don't think it could be valve stem seals. It might be something to do with the turbo conversion, and the positioning of the oil pipes etc. I don't know, speculating at the moment. Maybe the EGR got too much oil through?

Coming back home, no problems. She actually runs extremely well. I'm looking at an avg fuel consumption of 8 km/L that is 12.5L/100km, up and down the pass.(sorry my petrol head friends, I just had to :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: )

Eina Andre, dit maak seer...

Remember that age in things like valve stem seals and other rubber components is not only a matter of cycle life, but also of time...

Whatecer, I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway.
