What Picasso is saying is very important and I know for a fact that Nissan SA does not have my Patrol linked to my name. I have never taken it to a dealer so there is no way they will be sending me a letter.

What's a person with my situation supposed to do? I know most Patrol owners are in the same boat as I am?
Do I phone my nearest Nissan dealer and ask them to check?

Hi Michael

In case of a factory recall:

In my point of view it absolutely does not matter if you have bought the car from a Nissan Dealership or not. The same applies to servecing. So.. You are entitled to have the car / "factory related defect" fixed / replaced.

Now: In case of the airback recall they were prepared to replace, however they eventually figured out that my speciffic vehicle was not part of the recall...... which I accepted.

I had a second case were they did indeed replace a part , even so that it was not an official recall (dashboard).

It affects about 500 000 Nissan's worldwide, including X-Trail, Patrol, Almera, Almera Tino, Terrano II and Navara.
The cars were sold in the years 2000-04, and the firms said the defective part was supplied by parts maker Takata Corp.

Was hoping for a vin range.

I saw on the ausie forums they also mentioned vehicles sold between 2000-2004.
But I am now wondering with as being in efrika and all: the models they sell in UK/Austalia in 2000 might only reach us a few years later?

Very simple Fanus

Phone a Nissan Dealer .
Refer to the recall issue.
Confirm your vehicles VIN number
And have the dealer check it out.

Or alternatively phone NISSAN SA directly.
