Hi Marino
There is no petrol between Maun and Kasane, are you driving a petrol or diesel , towing or not.I will work out distances for you with fuel needed.I am trying to make silage bales at the moment so will come back to you in a couple of days.

Hi Paul
I am driving a 4.5 petrol Patrol. I will not tow, but will be fully loaded. Just me and my wife at this stage. The Patrol will be the "trailer" for the group. Two D4D Fortuner's and one D4D double cab is joining us.
Thanks

Marinus, is your car Auto or Manual? Makes a big difference in sand. If auto, put it in low range in sand, and expect 3.5km/l. My 4.2 manual gets 4.2km/l.
200l total should be more than enough?

Then I reckon you can work on 4km/l for the stretch between South gate an Kachikau, and your normal consumption either side of that.

Hi Marinus
Herewith the distances and and the amount of fuel you will need. Please dont be short on your calculations otherwise your game drives will suffer.
Maun to 3rd bridge tar 40 sand 110 some thick sections
Game drives 2days x2 160
3rd Bridge via south gate to Savuti 200 a lot of thick soft sections just take it easy go via the sand ridge road NOT the marsh road full day drive
Game drives Savuti 3days x2 160
Savuti to Ihaha tar 40 120 resonable road follow the directions I gave you
Game drives 2days x2 100
Ihaha to Kasane 40
Totals 80 890
Consumption 4.5 3.8
Fuel needed 17 235
I would take 240l and work on 140 l for the Toyotas
I average 3.6 to 4 in my 4.8 auto, worsed I got was 2.8 travelling from Khutse via Xade to Sundays Pan in CK ,there was alot of serious soft sand
The reason to go via South Gate to Savuti is that the area around Domba hippo pools is flooded
Please let me know if there is anything else you need to know
Regards
Paul
