Good day everyone.
The long and short of a 4.2. They overheat! The Ausies dont have a answer too. They even go so far to say, don't worry it wont brake if the heat guage are in the red. I beg to differ, I blew mine ski high.
A 4.2 with no turbo will overheat too. If you make it work hard, the temp will go up. The turbo one's overheat easy, because the more power they make. No matter the size of the radiator or the fan or how many waterpump changes with thermostats you do, they have a overheat problem.
I am busy to built a diffirant thermostat housing for Pieter's car. I beleave a huge heat transfer happen there, no matter what the radiator did to the water. Look at the current thermostat housing. Not many motors has the in and outlet on the same housing. Anywhay more of that after the tests.

Hi Guys

Well some good news.
Water temps are running between 88 and 96 deg C after I changed the Madman set-up from VDO 150 probe to the 120 setting and this looks right when compared to the infrared readings. Only out by 2 or 3 deg.
We moved the position of the EGT probe to just above the turbo and have had a max reading of 439 deg C with a turbo boost of max 0.5 bars. All this seems to be ok and I can relax and enjoy "Old RED" again.
Ricster with regards to the 2 stage fuel pump "doff I am" as this is actually on most turbo vehicles a vacuum on top of the fuel pump that allows more fuel through as the turbo comes in. We did not have to do this modification.

Cheers till later.
