Not sure if you have resolved this one yet? My guess would be that as the spring sags it also "winds up"a little bit, so that if it started life being for example 14.3 turns, it may now be 14.32 turns. The effect of this would be that it doesn't sit perfectly in the spring seats and sometimes moves slightly. If this is the cause, I don't think you need to worry about it at all.

My 1996 lorry doesn't have a front stabilizer either, although all the mounting points are present and correct as far as I can tell. Mine is an Aussie grey import, though (you can apparently tell from the fisrt letter of the VIN code).
