Honestly, after watching the last Nissan ZA muppet at ADA last weekend, I am honestly not surprised. He was fron "Marketing" too, IIRC. Anyways. They must get their act together...

Hi, I am following this post with great interest as I have 2 x 3.0 Patrols. The gearboxes are not identical inside as the added torque of the 3.0 over the original 2.8 has been known to sheer the splines on the 5th gear, as happened to me. Nissan then brought out a modification for that as per attachments. I fitted this shaft and gear to my 2001 Troll.
Does anybody on this forum know what year this modification was standardized in production? I ask this as my 2005 Troll is now showing similar symptoms, it feels like play in a universal joint when you accelerate and decelerate in 5th gear and 5th gear only. As the 2001 will only be a donor, would I be advised the swap boxes?

i have read about this on the Aus forum and in a Car magazine when the test drove a Patrol with the current shape. years ago's car magazine. if i recall correctly it was done in 2003 in the rest of the world. we hear in SA are a few years behind. like the CRD running in Aus from 2007 and we still get 2013 Di once here.
