This is a known point of controversy on the Community forum.
People complain that it is not in Toyota's interest to improve security to reduce reduce thefts.
I am not accusing them, just saying that the incentive for better anti-theft systems may not exist.
For too long BF had the market and did no development and look what happened. All the other suppliers have moved the goal posts and we now have the biggest choice ever. As for tyre choice, its up to the individual and the test should be a used as a guide.
BF will come back but its going to be a struggle to get to were they once were. Cooper have done good work and stock never seems to be a problem. This is the biggest complaint i had with Maxxis. When I need a set they did not have stock. My honest opinion with regard to muddies is they look cool and that is it. The new AT''s I have handled and stop far better. No road noise and fuel consumption is back to where it should be. As for traction, there is now problem and theory of more rubber o the road confirms this. This was confirmed on a trip to Moegatle were they performed very well.
Lastly Cooper offer a a 80 k km guarantee on the AT3's and with a price of R 2K, it is a bargain for me.

if you were never young and crazy
Cooper has a real tire is called the st max ....but becouse it cost the same or even a bit more than the competition they dont test it wonder why???
Put a set on agarob and Mr boegman has some on this test rigs looks like they are going to do 100000km plus .....also not bad on tar and strong sidewalls. ...i might consider a set but still need to do 5 years or so on my km2 thats on my patrol at the moment

I must agree with you but when you are spending some time in the bush far from home and one little piece of landrovia papwielia ( also known as sekel bos) in the sidewall and you can thow that tire away .....when doing overlanding not just to caravan parks its essential to have a stong tire that can do the job . I have seen many a soft all terrain tire stuffed up due to a rock standing pround on a dirt road
I fitted a set of ST Maxx's on my Patrol about 2 weeks ago after getting ± 90,000kms from a set of 4 STT's. They are noticeably quieter and also seems to have (slightly) improved the consumption. I will strongly recommend them
