EGT where to fit the gauge

Hi Guys,

Can you please assist and post some pic of where you fitted the gauge in side the car? Sal baie waardeur word
I'll be fitting it over the weekend. Any tips will also be appreciated.

Josh which model did you get ? Did you get the surround that comes with it? Mabe on the right on top of the dash?

Please read the instructions carefully ....MOST iMPORTANT ....the earth on the engine ....otherwise you are going to get wrong readings

Tinus, I got the one that is for egt only. It does have a surround. The surround has a square face. I have a cuby hole in the centre top of the dash. I was thinking of removing it. Then making a plate from aluminium and put the gauge with the boost gauge in there.

I started stripping the manifold heat shields today. Boy, what a job. There is like no space to work. Lyk of ek aangerand was as jy na my arms kyk
I dont no where to fit the probe now. There is barely a header and then the turbo bolts on. And on top of the manifold runs alot of pipes making acess difficult. I must atmit. Im in a jam. Post turbo seems to be the easiest way to go. I dont want to remove the manifold, turbo or water pipes.

Tony, i think you just safed my life thanx a miljion

I thought the probe would be to long for the manifold when I looked at it. I will then just put mine between no.3 and 4 cylinder. I thought it will be useless if it is not at the place where all the gas comes together. They recommend at the collective point.

I removed my complete EGR system and fitted blank off plates to both the exhaust and inlet manifold connections. I then fitted my exhaust gas temperature probe to the exhaust manifold blank off plate which now displays the exhaust temperature of number 4 cylinder which probably also runs the hottest.
The 5 gauges I fitted to my Patrol are voltage, EGT, boost, oil pressure and oil temperature..my apologies for the poor picture quality!!

Can the madman egt probe be cut shorter? What is the tape for around the shaft? Does anyone know

Thanks Joshua, the tape is only there to keep the brass fitting in place so remove the tape. One cannot shorten the probe....there is a compression fitting within the brass fitting so you must let approximately 20 mm of the probe protrude within the manifold before tightening. Hope this helps?
