30 TDI Vacuum Pipes

Post by Tony »

Ok, so I bought a new boost sensor (the one that sits on the intercooler), and popped it in last night, only to notice a fair amount of chafing in the areas that make contact with sharp objects and, with the vibrations eventually cut through the pipe. So I popped in to my closest "stealer" and got over a metre of vacuum pipe and I replaced all the obvious pipes leading to the turbo's VNT and the boost valve etc. On further investigation, I have noticed a few more similar pipes running under the intercooler, and there are some really bad looking nics in these as well.
My question is this - are all these pipes vacuum pipes, and do they all control / affect the boosting function and if so, is it possible that the strange boost pattern I am experiencing might be linked to a "leaking" pipe in this area.
