Filter,oil cooler housing

Post by Andre Steyn »

It never rains it pours, found a slight oil leak on my oil pressure sender, upon looseninig I found the housing to be cracked right through to the thread of the big heaxagonal nut. What now, how much are these housings and I take the coolant needs to come out to remove and replace the housing. Any advice gents need it urgently? Explains the oil consumption since rebuild.

I think that that can be welded professionally, Peter Connan I think would be better qualified to answer that, but I can't think that the pressures on that would be too much of an issue

Its from where the pressure sensor screw in towards the big nut forward where the release vavlve sits. Tried the welding route none of the pros want to touch it they all say the material is already to thin due to the hole for the sensor and the valve. It looks like with the rebuild the sensor was overtightened and popped the casting. Just as I started to think all is well and sorted.
