Sensors on the radiator

Post by ricster »

I was giving the 'ol Iron Maiden a wash this weekend and while looking and cleaning underneath the bullbar I noticed a loose wire on the sensor that fits into the underside of the radiator. It looks like a temp sensor or possibly pressure sensor... but my Iron Maiden doesn't have computers and other electrical goodies, so there is no diagnostics... ... I have a feeling that it is actually a temp sensor to control the aircon from switching off if the water temp gets too high, but am not 100% certain. Can anyone give me some info on what that is and what do I ask the spares shop for, as the little wire has broken off right at the sensor and I doubt there is enough "meat" to get a good solder joint.
Regards

I searched the Aussie forums and from what they say, the sensor on the passenger side at the bottom of the radiator, is to switch the aircon off when a certain water temp is reached, and the one on the otherside ( drivers side ) at the bottom is to activate the fan infront of the aircon radiator.

Now on mine the passenger side sensor has a broken wire right at the sensor, and I think the other sensor ( drivers side) is also faulty and in a "closed" position, cause if I have the ignition at the ON position and push the button to switch the A/C on then even on first start in the cold mornings, the fan starts spinning. This should only happen when the radiator water temp is running a little high to force extra air through the radiator.

So if anyone knows the part number ( not that I'll buy these from Nissan), or at what temp these will switch on the fan or switch off the aircon then I can get one of each before stripping the old ones out and making ...... nonsense

Cedric,
If the water gets to high the Aircon would be the least of your problems.

ha ha... true.... but luckily I don't have any water temp issues with the monster radiator on my motor. Its just that I like to have things connected and working. If you find anything out, let me know please.
