Re: 3.0d aircon compressor
Unkredible,
Is it the pump that seased or the pully bearing?
With the belt off, is it possible to rotate the A/C pully freely?
If it does turn free the pully bearing is fine and it is the seased pump which breaks the belt as soon as the clutch ingage.
You can then unplug the A/C clutch connection on the pump preventing the clutch to ingage.
Fit new belt, get lots of water (for personal consumption back home) and you should be fine.
Suspect open windows back home will be the in thing in this situation.
Good luck.

Re: 3.0d aircon compressor
Thanks,
I had the pulley bearing replaced at the coast - luckily bearing man had the part - the bearing came out in pieces, only had about 6 balls left. The aircon clutch was totally burned out, so I had it removed and managed to get home with the windows open :-)
Now I need to source a new / second hand aircon unit - any suggestions? I have spoken to Auto Aircon and they reckon they are unlikely to be able to recon it due to no spares availability...
Cheers
