My Y61 Patrol's radio aerial has a couple of stripped teeth right at the bottom of the toothed strip, so when the motor pushes the mast right up to the top, it emits a growling noise and won't retract until one assists it a little by hand. I duly ordered a replacement mast from Nissan and picked it up on Friday afternoon.
This afternoon I tried to replace the mast. According to the manual, it is the easiest possible operation:
Undo the nut on the fender (one can use circlip or needle nose pliers as a "special tool" to accomplish this) and then switch the radio on to extend the mast and simply remove it.
This is exactly what I did, but there was no way that the mast would budge so that I could extract it

. I then stripped the inner fender out and removed the mechanism, but I still could not get the mast out. Has anyone battled with this problem and solved it?
