Re: Bash Plates
Peter,
Can you do the Patrol cut out on the BASH plate in front? Instead of just the normal holes, you have the Patrol name cut out?
Thanks

Re: Bash Plates
Yes I can.
But it will add to the cost, and I can't tell you how much at this time. Probably not more than a couple of hundred bucks though.

Re: Bash Plates
Thanks Peter,
Is it possible that you could work out a price for me? I would obviously only want the PATROL in the front bash plate. Transfer case plate can stay as is. I have a 2007 4.8 GRX with stock bumper. Galvinised.
Thanks

Like this:
Or did you have something else in mind? Also, do you want to be able to read it while standing and looking at the car, or do you want it reversed so that the guy infront of you in the traffic can read it in his mirror?

Re: Bash Plates
Peter,
In fact that looks very good, I dont want to take away my ground clearance or approach angle. Just good protection with a personal touch. I am a bit worried about the strength? Do you think that will weaken the bash plate a lot? Maybe a small support pieces through the P-A-R like the O to help with strength?
Also what is your price to get this done? How long does it take and must I pick up or can it maybe be delivered? What area are you based in?
Dankie baie!

Re: Bash Plates
Jacques, I doubt whether the cutout makes any difference to strength. The reason I say that is because (and it's not really visible in the picture) just between the text and the row of holes there is a gusset.
This plate doen not affect either the approach angle or the ground clearance, but there are some guys who feel that it extends a bit lower than they would like. To be honest, it was designed to still be fulle effective with a 2-inch lift. May I recommend that you get hold of Tinus Lotz, and take a look at his? He is in Rooihuiskraal and has one fitted to his 2003 GRX with standard suspension?
I have not gotten a price yet, but am confident that I can manufacture these for R1300 or less (if there are another four or so 4.8 owners who want, it should be even less). I am in Kempton, but could easily get it to Tinus in Rooihuiskraal. He operates a business from home, so it should be easy for you to collect from there?
It takes about a month to six weeks from the date I place the material orders.

Re: Bash Plates
Thanks Peter,
Then i am happy, would appreciate it if I could pick it up by Tinus if he doesnt mind? Tinus what is your personal opinion on the bash plates and could you please post a picture?
Where is the other 4.8 owners? I need some discount and I need you guys to come to the party!!!
I will see if any others wants to maybe take advantage of this otherwise, I will order from you on Wednesday. Please just confirm the procedure? 50% deposit, banking details from first page? When does final payment occur?
Is the installation simple? Do I need to go and get the bolts and screws or is this provided.

Re: Bash Plates
Jacques, please PM me your cell number, then I will send you bank details. 50% deposit will be fine.
I am sure Tinus won't mind, but will ask him this evening when I see him.
All the necessary bolts should already be there, unless some of the existing covers have been removed from your car. There should be a steel cover under the radiator, held on by two large bolts on each end (the recovery hook is also held by the two bolts on the one side) and three smaller bolts on the front edge. There should also be a plastic cover just in front of the axle, held by two bolts in each end. These bolts are optional though, the other bolts hold the bash plate quite well enough.
Note that if you read back on this thread, you should find some pics. You may also find some complaints about the bolts being difficult to fasten on the 4.8, but I have made some changes recently in order to alleviate this problem.

Re: Bash Plates
It can be, but since it is not the same, it will not help in reducing the price, unless we can now find a few more guys who are interested in plates for their 4.5, 4.2 or 3l diesels (all three these use the same plate).
