Where to buy EGT Guage in Cape Town???

Post by SRXy »

Hi all,

I'm finally getting around to installing a turbo onto the Wee Beasty and I'm missioning around to get an EGT guage and it's turning out to be a lot harder than I thought. I know MGL Avionics and Madman supply them, but I was wondering if anyone have any connections or know of any shops that sell EGT's. I'd ideally like to mount it in front of my instrument cluster so it's right in my field of view while driving and that's not really an option MGL and Madman units. I know Frans had quite a cool looking set of guages on his troll when it was turboed....but I don't know where he got it from.

Thanks in Advance

Got mine form Autostyle up here in JHB but its an Autogauge one check for suppliers down there or just order it online from Autostyle and dont bother about them saying you need to supply your own Lambda , they are bloody clueless - EGT works of an K type thermocouple and AFR works of a Lamba and the Autogauge unit comes with the couple in the packet , i paid under R800 for mine

Thanks Grootseun....I had a look at the Autostyle stuff. Unfortunately we don't have an Autostyle supplier in Cape Town and they're going to charge me R200 for shipping. I spoke to them and they gave me the 'there is no probe in the box routine'....lol...you would think that they would know their own stuff! When I checked on the Auto Guage site it specifically stated that the Thermocouple is included. If the thermocouple is included then it's worth the effort to get on shipped down.

Thanks!

Jip it is included been running mine for a while now , its of course a 1/8 NPT thread so get yourself the tap before hand not all places stock those
I even contacted Autogauge directly and they came back immediatly stating it is in the box , i went as far as giving Autostyle that email and showed the guys the couple when i wnet an bought mine but yet they are still arguing the fact , have no idea why

Im very happy wiht mine though , i bougt the digital one that also shows you battery voltage - it switches form batt to egt and back evry minute or less i think and has a circular set of leds surrounding the dislplay that light up as temp goes up and goes from green to orange to red as you near the dangerzone

Have jou had a look at the MadMan system? I see there are a few dealers in the Western Cape.

I eventually picked one up from my boet. It's a MGL Avionics unit and works very well. The next mission now if to get a boost guage...I think I'll pick one of those up from autostyle or that place by Koosie Swanepoel's shop.

I've just bought mine online with Autostyle.

Where to go for the oil catch can?

Autostyle does not have stock.
