I am in the sh*t - literally and figurely speaking!!!!
The rear main seal on my enigne packed up this weekend - and my Patrol is pissing oil all over the place. I need some assistance from our gurus on the forum in perhaps obtaining some kind of a vin number for my 4.2 diesel - Nissan says they can't help me without a vin number.
According to Engines for Africa where I bought the motor it came out of a Nissan Safari - but they can't (or won't??) say what year model.
All I know and can say is the following (differences between local 4.2's and mine that I have noticed) :
It is a factory standard turbo diesel engine but not intercooled.
The main difference between my engine and others is my vacuum pump for the brake system sits on the back of my altenator - not under the diesel pump like in the case with most other diesel 4.2 models.
It has a dump valve (for over boosting) on top of the turbo manifold (I think

We did compare the rear main seals between my engine and that of Frans's 4.2 - my crank is bigger and so is the rear main seal than on his engine.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - I am suppose to go on leave next week tuesday - and if not fixed I am not going anywhere.
Cedric, Gerrit, Jules, Koos and everybody else with all the different manuals with you - please see if you can help me - I am so very much desperate

Or any other suggestions how to go about this problem will be highly appreciated - the gearbox is coming out so long tomorrow (later today).
I can't sleep and is still going to walk a pathway through my floor tiles tonight!!
Regards
